Mini Lympics
The Aquatic Academy sent a squad of enthusiastic junior swimmers to compete in the Mini ‘Lympics held annually at the Linden Pool in Emmarentia. This event draws juniors from around Gauteng, and the 25m races are hotly contended by many of the top provincial juniors.
Ribbons are awarded to the top 8 swimmers in each event. The Academy team brought home 17 Finalist ribbons as well as 2 gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze medal.
Star of the day was Kyle North who won a gold, silver and a bronze medal along with 2 finalist ribbons. Annebel Van Wyk won gold for the backstroke event, and Jayden Botha won a silver in the breaststroke.
All were awarded gold chocolate medals to be saved for after the last race. They were all “deservedly winners”.
